What makes the gameplay of Rolling Ball special?

Rolling Ball is a drag-controlled ball-rolling challenge where you guide a ball along tracks. Try to steer the ball to the finish line while collecting keys.

Rolling Ball

The appeal of Rolling Ball lies in its unique ball-control mechanics. While it belongs to the rolling-ball genre, the game utilizes a control system completely different from Slope 2. The ball moves via a "drag" action, requiring players to actively steer and control its trajectory. Stacked blocks may block your path along the way. However, these are not impassable obstacles. You can steer the ball to collide with them, knocking the blocks over and continuing your journey.

In addition to overcoming obstacles, Rolling Ball features a key-collection system. Gathering enough keys allows you to unlock reward chests after each level, providing an extra goal to strive for beyond simply finishing the stage. Each level offers a distinct challenge, making the in-game journey diverse and engaging.

How to control the ball using the drag action in Rolling Ball

In Rolling Ball, players use the mouse to generate momentum and steer the ball's rolling direction. Master the dragging technique and apply the following tips to conquer every level:

Dragging technique

Press and hold the left mouse button in the control area, then drag the mouse in the direction you want the ball to move. Dragging left steers the ball to the left, while dragging right changes its direction to the right. When you need to move quickly or push the ball over obstacles, use a stronger, more decisive dragging motion.

Tips for effective dragging

Observe the path before dragging: Quickly look ahead to identify the locations of obstacles, gaps, and keys before executing your drag movement. Proactively choosing your path is far more effective than constantly changing direction when the ball is already too close to an obstacle.

Use short, steady dragging movements: Avoid holding down the mouse button and dragging too forcefully right from the start. Instead, make short drags to the left or right to fine-tune the ball's direction. This offers better control over the trajectory and prevents the ball from veering off course.

Use obstacles to clear the way: You don't necessarily have to dodge the stacked blocks in your path. You can actively drag the ball toward them to cause a collision and knock them over. However, keep a close eye on what lies ahead to avoid steering the ball into a dangerous spot.

Collect keys when the path is safe: Keys are used to open reward chests after each level, making them well worth collecting. When a key is nearby, slow down and make small, precise movements to reach it accurately. Do not attempt to grab a key if doing so puts the ball at risk of falling off the level.
